FAQs

What will a virtual visit be like?

Your Telehealth visit will be very similar to your visits in-person.  You will receive a link in a MyChart message from your provider that you will click on a few minutes before your appointment time.  It will take you to your virtual waiting room.  Your care team of students will then join you to review your needs, symptoms and then create a treatment plan.  For your comfort, only the student interviewer and supervisor will be seen during your visit, the other student(s) will not have their cameras on.  To formulate the treatment plan, it will be like your    in-person visits – the students will ‘step out,’ leaving you in the ‘waiting room’ while they discuss their plan with the supervisor then ‘step back in’ to review it with you

What sorts of health concerns can be covered virtually?

It’s actually pretty amazing what we can do with a camera and virtual visit!  We can discuss common ailments like allergies, digestive complaints and hormone issues.  This format also works well for medication updates, blood pressure and diabetes as well.  If you have a concern that really does need a physical exam to provide better diagnosis or treatment then our teams will refer you to a clinic who can do in-person visits during this pandemic.

Will you be able to prescribe medication/herbal remedies?

Yes!  All of our prescriptions will either be sent to a pharmacy electronically or sent to our in-house dispensary who can mail them to you.  Alternatively, you can use our online dispensary Wellevate to order your supplements

How long will a virtual visit be?

We will be scheduling very similarly to our in-person visits – Expect about 30-40 minutes if you are returning patient and about an hour for new patients.  We have found virtual visits can be more efficient than in-person at times!

What software do I need?

You don’t need any special software, when you click on the link in your MyChart message, Zoom will automatically download and let you into the ‘meeting’.  You do need a webcam and a microphone.

How does payment work?

During this national emergency, telehealth has been given the same coverage as a regular in-person office visit.  We will be billing these to your insurance, regular deductibles and copays apply.  We have online payment methods for these.  If you are one of our patients on a special fee schedule due to income or senior/military status you will be billed your regular rate as you are accustomed to.

This is my first visit - What should I bring to my appointment to prepare?

If you have labs or records to share, we recommend uploading those to MyChart prior to your visit.  If you have your supplements/medications list uploaded for us, that will also be helpful.
