At the regular family trek to the pediatrician’s office, children are weighed, measured and inspected from head-to-toe as part of their general checkup. But how many of them are asked questions about their favorite foods and outdoor activities?
At a Well-Child Visit at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, nutrition and exercise are among the many topics your naturopathic team will discuss with you and your child in a comprehensive, hour-long appointment.
“We take a whole-person approach at Bastyr Center, which means we spend a little more time educating the families on things like nutrition and exercise, vaccines, and any questions the families may have,” says Sarah M. Acosta Smith, ND, a clinical faculty member who supervises naturopathic medicine students at Bastyr Center.
Well-Child Visits $20 through August
If you are new to naturopathic medicine, Bastyr Center makes it easy to give the natural approach to family health a try with $20 Well-Child Visits from July 1 to August 30, 2014. Licensed practitioners and a team of advanced student clinicians will assess your child’s current physical health, growth and development, and nutrition and digestive needs.
Dr. Acosta Smith says you should be prepared to answer questions about your child’s eating and sleep habits, exercise needs, and any mental or social health concerns.
“Exercise and nutrition are important, because they are the basis to our health,” Dr. Acosta Smith says. “If we can instill good habits during childhood, it’s easier to keep them through adolescence and adulthood.”
Free Vitamins at Well-Child Visit
Children ages 14 and under are eligible for a $20 Well-Child Visit during the promotion, which includes a free bottle of pediatric vitamins. Multiple children from the same family may not be seen as a group; one appointment per child is required. The appointment is intended as a wellness evaluation only. Other health issues must be addressed during a separate appointment.
