Steve Given, DAOM, LAc
Dr. Given's current appointments include Associate Dean for Clinical Education in the School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; Program Director for the Doctorate in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine program; core faculty member; and clinical faculty member at Bastyr Center for Natural Health, supervising acupuncture and Oriental medicine, Chinese herbal medicine appointments and supervising in the Immune Wellness Clinic program. He also serves as site visit chair for the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine; Chair of the Core Curriculum Committee; Co-Chair of the Clean Needle Technique Committee; and liaison to the NCCAOM for the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Given's interests include HIV/AIDS, substance abuse treatment, oncology, Chinese herbal safety, research in acupuncture and Oriental medicine, and the history of medicine. Dr. Given earned a BS in biology with an emphasis on microbiology from Portland State University in 1987; an MS in traditional Oriental medicine from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, California, in 1992; and a Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from Bastyr University in 2006.
